Beach Combing

1)      All shells/sand dollars in our vacation home collected from Gearhart beach.

Razor Clamming (requires shellfish license)

1)      Can use clam tubes provided in the garage.

2)      Gearhart beach is a Razor Clamming “Hot Spot”.

3)      Check signs at beach entrance for season closure (~ July15th to September 30th).

NOTE: You can not combine clams in one container, or you COULD get a citation/fine!

Crabbing (requires shellfish license)

1)      Crabbing can be enjoyed from the 12th street bridge in Seaside (south on 101 to stop light at movie theater). Turn right onto 12th street and look for other crabbers on bridge.

2)      Please make sure all lines are “secured” before lowering crab pots/rings into water (do not throw).

3)      Best/cheapest crab bait is chicken leg’s purchased from Safeway (~ $4 to $5 worth).

4)      Make sure you use the yellow “crab gage” provided (note the regulations printed on the gauge). NOTE: I witnessed a man getting a $150 fine from a State Policeman for having an under-sized crab!!!!

5)      MALE crabs only may be kept (again, note regulations/identification method on the gauge).

6)      All crab must be cooked the same day. Please use crab cooker on the front drive way (not in the house or garage). Boil crab for 20 minutes.
